Robert L. Bernet
SPRINGFIELD - Robert L. Bernet, 83, of Springfield, died at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center.
Robert was born April 22, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Albert and Jennie Otto Bernet. He married Betty L. Bordenkircher on December 29, 1951 in Mt. Sterling.
Robert was a Korean War Veteran. He worked for Otto Boiler Company for 35 years, Ideal Industries for 7 years and retired in 1996 after 12 years of service at Precision Products. He was a past volunteer for Third Age Living and St. John's Caregivers. He was a member of St. Agnes Holy Name Society and American Legion Post 759 in Chatham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Bernet.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Bernet of Springfield; three sons, Robert (wife, Rhonda) Bernet of San Antonio, TX, Thomas Bernet of Springfield, and Mark (wife, Dianne) Bernet of Flower Mound, TX; one daughter, Marilyn Sheehan of Springfield; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two siblings, Sr. Regina Marie Bernet, O.P. and Eugene (wife, Cathy) Bernet, all of Springfield; one sister-in-law Rita Bernet; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
