Springfield, IL—Rodney Allen Huffman, 69 of Springfield, died at 7:30 pm, Monday, September 10, 2018 at his home. He was born September 30, 1948 in Springfield, to Henry and Dorothy Brodish Huffman. He married Teresa McKinney on November 1, 1969.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Huffman of Springfield; one daughter Heather (Ruth LaMaster) Huffman of Glen Carbon, IL; one son, Scott (Julie) Huffman of Riverton; two grandchildren, Nathan and Emily Huffman; three sisters, Cheryl (Frank Jr.) Moscardelli of Springfield, Lorilee (Charlie Trotter) Huffman of Anna, IL and Cindy (Ron Horton) Huffman of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Rodney was a US Army Veteran and a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman. He was a Senior Structural Design Technician at Hanson Professional Services for over fifty years. He loved his job and the people he worked with.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and family. He enjoyed all history, especially anything to do with war history. He loved inventing and tackling challenges and woodworking. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Visitation: 3:00 – 6:00 pm, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman. A second visitation will be held from 9:00 – 9:30 am Monday, September 17, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman.
Funeral Service: 9:30 am, Monday, September 17, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman, with Reverend Michael Schuermann officiating.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Inter Veterans and the Army.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman or to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
