SPRINGFIELD - Reverend Roger L. Boyd, 78, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at his home in Springfield. He was born March 29, 1934 in Virginia, IL, the son of Rev. David L. and Roxie Duncan Boyd. On June 22, 1956, he married Mary Lou Hudson. His parents; wife Mary Lou; sisters Elsie Mae Lair and Dorothy Cuba; and nephew Edward Munson preceded him in death.

Reverend Boyd is survived by son Steve (Jean) Boyd of Springfield; daughters Sue (Craig) Burkholder of Springfield and Becky (Roy) Snively of Neoga; grandchildren Nathan, Nicholas, Stephanie and Stacie Boyd; Jessica, Andrew and Aaron Burkholder; Brett, Jordan and Emily Snively; a niece and two nephews.

Reverend Boyd graduated from Central Bible Institute and was ordained with the Assemblies of God in 1960. He pastored in Belleville, Gibson City, Lincoln, Effingham, Mattoon, and Havana, where he retired. Even in retirement, he continued to serve others, by comforting the sick and dying in hospitals. For many years, Reverend Boyd served as Presbyter for Illinois Assemblies of God Churches. He was a member of Rotary International for several years.

Visitation: Sunday, June 3, from 4-6 PM at Calvary Temple Christian Center, 1730 W. Jefferson St., Springfield. Visitation will also be Monday, June 4, from 9AM until time of services at 10 AM at CTCC, with Rev. Larry H. Griswold officiating. Committal services will follow at approximately 2:30 PM at Mound Cemetery near Cowden.
