VERSAILLES - Ronald Roy Wagner age 74 of Versailles, Illinois and formerly of Springfield, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois.

He was born November 3, 1937 in Dogtown, Illinois in Brown County, Illinois the son of Roy and Hazel Woods Wagner. He Married Linda Louise Wagner on June 27, 1958 at the First United Methodist Church in Mt.Sterling, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 37 years, his parents, 4 brothers, Virgil, Don, John, and Delbert Wayne, and 2 sisters Teddy Bump and Maxine Tice.

Ron attended Mt.Sterling High School and served in the United States Navy. He was a longtime member of the Versailles Christian Church. Ron was currently serving his 2nd term as Mayor of Versailles, Illinois and was employed by the Irish House in Mt.Sterling. He owned and operated Wagner Plumbing and Heating in Versailles and worked several years for Barber Coleman Co. in Springfield. Ron was Past President of the Versailles Lions Club, past member of the Brown County Fair Board, past member of the board of the Versailles Christian Church, served as precinct committeeman in Springfield, an election judge in both Springfield and Versailles and was very involved with his political party for several years. Ron loved life and truly loved the time he spent with family and friends, especially his 7 grandchildren.

Ron is survived by 3 sons, Bruce Wagner (Tracey) of Auburn, Illinois, Ed Wagner (Marcia) of Grandview, Washington, and Chuck Wagner of Springfield. 1 daughter, Teresa McElwee (Terry) of Springfield and 7 grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 sister, Nina Belle Ingram of Versailles.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Versailles Christian Church with Rev. Steve Ingram and Rev. Jeremy Norton officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles West Side Cemetery. Military services will be conducted at the graveside.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 Tuesday evening at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt.Sterling. Friends may also call one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Versailles Pool or Versailles Lions Club.
