PLEASANT PLAINS - Sandy Black, 70, of Pleasant Plains, died at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at St. John's Hospital.
Sandy was born November 30, 1942, in Springfield, the daughter of David Lee Ward and Mary Louise Anderson Sullivan. She married Leslie "Butch" Black in 1965; he preceded her in death.
Sandy was a member of Richland Baptist Church and was a huge supporter of the Animal Protective League. She worked as a transcriptionist and was a published author.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, David Ward.
She is survived by two daughters, Breann (husband, Mst. David) Hickey of Pleasant Plains and Shawna (husband, Philip Cottingham) McCoy of East Moline; four grandchildren, Olivia McCoy, Sadie and Abigail Cottingham, and Zillian Hickey; brother and sister-in-laws, Russell and Sherry Clay, Mary Lou Burris and Patricia and John Steinmetz; and several nieces and nephews, to include Stacey Davidson and Michael Ward.
Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.
Memorial Ceremony: The family will host a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Richland Baptist Church, 12255 Salisbury Rd., Pleasant Plains.
