SPRINGFIELD - Wayne E. Von Lanken, 86, of Springfield, Ill., died at 6:50 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1926, in Douglas County, Ill., to Hans Alfred and Almeda Marie Frohm Von Lanken. Wayne had two previous marriages: Mary Lou Cutright and Marjorie Kern. He had a long-term relationship with Keetra Geriets.
Survivors include one sister, Waunetta Hood of Charleston; two daughters, Sherry Von Lanken of Springfield and Tamela (Mark) Robinson of Waggoner; four sons, Stanton (Janet) Von Lanken of Mattoon, Steve (Carol) Von Lanken, Daniel (Donna) Von Lanken and Duane (Adam Wilson) Von Lanken all of Springfield; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Marsha Von Lanken; and one sister, Helen Von Lanken.
Mr. Von Lanken was a US Army Veteran serving in the Philippines during WWII. He worked as a Budget Analyst for the State of Illinois, retiring in 1990. Wayne was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed camping, fishing and outdoor sports.
Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 3 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Arcola Cemetery with Carol Von Lanken officiating and where military honors will be conducted.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
