WAVERLY - William F. "Bill" Imhoff, age 84, of Waverly, Il. passed away Monday evening (July 30, 2012) at his residence.
He was born May 2, 1928 in St. Louis, Mo. the son of the late William Frank and Margaret (Rhea) Imhoff and was a descendent of two Morgan and Sangamon County pioneer families.
He married Clementina Bentena on December 24, 1952 in Jacksonville, Il. and she survives.
Also surviving are two children, William Robert "Bob" Imhoff and wife Brenda and Mary Kay Fiorito and husband Rodger all of Waverly, Il.; five grandchildren, Gretchen Imhoff of Springfield, Il., Ryne Fiorito and wife Ashley of Chatham, Il., Craig Fiorito of Decatur, Il., Heidi Imhoff and Kyle Fiorito both of Waverly, Il.; a great-granddaughter, Madalyn Fiorito of Chatham, Il.
Mr. Imhoff was raised on the farm of his grandparents, Ed and Edith Rhea, Sr. and served his country in the U.S. Army as a truck driver during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked on many road construction projects as a laborer for Local #253. He enjoyed antique tractors, sports and going to the coffee shop. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-granddaughter and attending their sporting activities.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday (August 3, 2012) at the First Baptist Church in Waverly, Il. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by Waverly American Legion Post. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Waverly, Il. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Waverly or to Waverly Rescue Squad.
