Terrance M. "Terry" Tesar

GLENARM, IL- Terrance M. "Terry" Tesar, 73, of Glenarm, passed away early Tuesday morning April 30, 2013, at Sunrise Manor in Virden, IL.

Terry was born in Chicago on September 25, 1939, the son of John and Catherine Hohol Tesar. He graduated from Reavis High School in Oak Lawn then attended the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana and Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. He was united in marriage to Susan Ostermeier on March 25, 1967, at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church by the late Rev. Dr. Lewis C. Niemoller.

Terry is survived by his wife of 46 years; his daughter, Erica (husband James) Michael of Glenarm; two grandchildren, Nathan and Lauren Michael also of Glenarm; a sister, Sandra (husband, David) Hutchinson of Blairsville, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Melanie Ostermeier of Chatham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dale and Carole Schaefer of Darien, IL; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Scott Schaefer.

Terry worked for the City of Chicago and retired from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County (Illinois), where he was the manager of grounds and resources.

He was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church and several organizations including: American Public Works Association, Midwest Institute of Park Executives and the Sangamon County Farm Bureau. He served as a volunteer for the Grace Lutheran Church Food Pantry and was a First Responder for the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. Terry played semi-pro football for the Elmhurst Travelers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where a private family memorial gathering will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a service there at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Corinne Ostermeier Baker will officiate. Burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those that wish may direct memorial contributions to the Lincoln Memorial Gardens Ostermeier Prairie Center or Land of Lincoln Honor Flight Program
