SPRINGFIELD, IL – Marylan Roberts, 71, tip-toed into heaven on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born in rural Williamson County to William Claude and Libby (King) Pritchett. She married Marvin Roberts in Union County on Jan. 11, 1963.
First and foremost Marylan was a loving mother and devoted wife. She was previously employed as a secretary for Woodside United Methodist Church and First General Baptist Church. She was also a co-owner of Marvin's Gardens in Edinburg. She was a member of Southern View Chapel.
Marylan enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and cooking. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin; her children: Dwight (Cynthia) Roberts of Springfield, Dale (Beth Ann) Roberts of Bryant, Ark., and Denise Roberts (Donald McDaniel) of Dawson; six grandchildren: Amanda (fiancé, Richard), Matthew, Heather, Sarah, Jessica and Eric; three brothers: Carl Ray, Jerry and Jackie Pritchett; two sisters, Joan Hock and Janie Booth; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a sister.
Visitation: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home, the Rev. Gary Gilley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern View Chapel.
