Harold Fahs

CHATHAM, IL - Harold Fahs, 89, of Chatham, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Capitol Care LLC in Springfield.

He was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Chatham to Charles and Mildred Edwards Fahs. Harold married Mary Hamilton on Aug. 7, 1924.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Fahs Aldridge.

Harold retired from farming, F&H Construction, bus driver for Chatham schools, Ground Superintendent at Sangamon State University and the Village of Chatham. He coached Khoury and Little League Baseball and was also a baseball umpire in Chatham.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Oakland Raiders fan. He enjoyed flower gardening. He was a lifelong member of Chatham United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; one brother, Robert Fahs of Farmington, N.M.; three sons: Ronald (Dorothy), Mike (Ginny), and Phil (Lynette), all of Chatham; five grandchildren: Christy (Christopher) Osborn of Southaven, Miss., Beth (Troy) Luckey of Pawnee, Toni Fahs (companion, Steven Peel) of Springfield, Jay Fahs (companion, Molly Churchill) of Virden, and Sarah (Joe) Helt of Urbana, Ind.; six great-grandchildren: Truman, Tommy, Henry and Teddy Osborn, Riley Luckey, and Covenant Helt; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb, 18, 2014, at Chatham United Methodist Church, 104 W. Chestnut, Chatham, IL. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Sara Isbell officiating. Burial will be at Chatham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chatham United Methodist Church.
