Wilma Gardner Wilson
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Wilma Gardner Wilson, 98, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Heritage Health.
She was born April 17, 1915, in Farmingdale, Ill., the daughter of Hiram Edwin and Agnes Bottorff Gardner. On Jan. 17, 1934, she married William Warren Wilson in Litchfield.
Wilma was a graduate of Lincoln Land Community College. She was the owner of Wilson's Daycare and Preschool for 37 years. She was a long-time member of West Side Christian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher in the primary department for 37 years. Mrs. Wilson was also a member of Capital Area Preschool Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean Wilson Bond (husband, Edward), of Springfield; granddaughter, Lisa Manley Huffman-Sokal (husband, Doug), of Virginia, Ill.; and great-grandson, Domer J. Huffman IV, of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Carolyn Manley Fordonski.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014, starting at 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Farmington Cemetery in Farmingdale, Ill.
