ATHENS, IL - Charles Bryant, 57, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; a son, Shane; mother, Patricia Buckley of Athens; three brothers: Clifford "Pete" (wife, Kitsy) Bryant of Springfield, John (wife, Sue) Bryant of Athens, and Jimmy (companion, Roxanne) Bryant of Springfield; three sisters: Patricia (husband, Kenneth) Yeates of Athens, Karen Reagon of Springfield, and Kelly (husband, Steve) Berndt of Athens; two grandchildren, Travis and Lilly; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael, on March 17, 1997, and his father, Clifford Bryant, Sr. on Aug. 5, 1995.
He was born Jan. 10, 1957, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Clifford and Patricia (Buckley) Bryant.
Charles enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, boating, and mushroom hunting.
He was a truck driver for several years before being employed at the Village Market in Athens.
He was known for always helping others; his complete generosity towards others was well-known throughout the community. His last gift was being an organ donor for many people in need.
Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, the Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating. Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery.
