Sherri L. Schnetz

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Sherri L. Schnetz, 54, of Springfield, died at 3:23 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Sherri was born Nov. 29, 1959, in Springfield, the daughter of Mary Louise Gilbert. She married Marcus L. Schnetz on Sept. 30, 1995, in Springfield.

Sherri was a graduate of Pawnee High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. She was employed with the State of Illinois for over 30 years at the Dept. of Revenue. She was a member of Pawnee Methodist Church. Sherri was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She also enjoyed shopping, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Lyons; grandfather, Henry Jacob Gilbert; grandmother, Margaret Sprouse Gilbert; two uncles, Dale Gilbert and Robert Myers, Sr.; and father-in-law, Roger Schnetz, Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Marc Schnetz of Springfield; mother, Mary Lyons; aunt, Sandra "Sandy" Myers of Springfield; four cousins: Bob (wife, Mary Beth) Myers, Mark (wife, Jackie) Myers, and Keith (wife, Sheila) Myers, all of Chatham, and Kris (husband, Steve) Myers-Stuenkel of Dawson; six special second cousins: Zachary and Noah Myers, Tayler and Alex Myers, Wesley Myers, and Joey Stuenkel; mother-in-law, Clara Schnetz; honorary parents, Bob and Shirley Laurent; and numerous friends.

Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the time of the ceremony at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, the Rev. Florene Scott officiating.

Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2014, at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
