Barbara J. Nation

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Barbara J. Nation, 65, died at 6:05 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2014, at St. John's Hospital. She was born in Springfield on April 6, 1948, to Gale Bond Cox and Dorothy Lorraine Starks Cox. She married Norman Lee Nation in 1973. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Norris "Naud" Ramsey, and one brother, Thomas William Cox.

Surviving are her husband, Norman, of Springfield; two daughters, Gale Barbara (Scott) Maguire, of Orland Park, and Amy Lynne (Tim) Marley, of Edinburg; two sisters, Sue (Dick) Eggleston and Patti (Joe) Kaidell, both of Springfield; one brother, Jim (Pat) Cox of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church and a volunteer for the and Smoke Free Illinois Advocate. She was an Administrative Assistant with the Illinois State Police, the Illinois Department of Mental Health and Illinois Education Association.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home. Prayer service at 4 p.m.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at St. Cabrini Church with Reverend Richard Chiola officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
