Robert P. "Bob" Williams

THE VILLAGES, FL - Robert P. "Bob" Williams, 86, formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at The Villages Hospital in Florida.

He was born in Lincoln, IL, on June 2, 1927, the son of James M. and Marie Noonan Williams. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. He earned the WWII Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal.

He married Eleanor D. Tubbs on Dec. 2, 1950, and she survives.

Bob is also survived by his son, Craig (wife, Barbara) Williams of Springfield; his daughter, Sandy D. Jachino of Mahomet, IL; six grandchildren: Craig Williams II and Kurt Williams both of Springfield, Amy Jachino of St. Peters, MO, and Nick Jachino, Bethany Williams and Charlie Williams, all of Springfield; a great-grandson, Jacob Jachino of St. Peters, MO; his brother, James Williams of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bob worked at Sangamon Electric as the Manager of the Drafting Department. He founded the Com Microfilm Co. in 1972 and retired from there in 1996. His son, Craig, and wife, Barbara, have continued the family business. He and his wife were members of New Life Christian Church while in Florida and Westside Christian Church in Springfield for many years previously.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, IL, where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, from 10:30 a.m. until time of services there at 11:30 a.m., the Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy and the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
