Harold Edward Kutz

ELKHART, IL - Harold Edward Kutz, 87, passed away at 7:55 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014, at The Christian Village.

Harold was born in Logan County on May 29, 1926, son of Emil Kutz and Goldie Eeten Aper. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Alberta Drake on Jan. 7, 1951, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden. She preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 2005.

He is survived by his children: Doug (Suzie) Kutz of Indianapolis, Ind., Greg Kutz of Lincoln, Ill., Donna (Lance) Vaughan of Mt. Pulaski, Ill., Debra (John) Swaringen of Hobe Sound, Fla., Jeff (Carol) Kutz of Elkhart, Ill., Bruce (Joanne) Kutz of Hanover, Ill., and Dawn (David) Crawford of Lincoln, Ill.; sisters: Annie (Eldon) Westen of Emden, Ill., Eileen (Ron) Hubbard of Lincoln, Ill., and Goldie (Jerry) Burlingame of Ipava, Ill.; brother, John A. Aper of Lincoln; brothers-in-law, Ralph Drake of Girard, Ill., and Jon Wibben of Hartsburg, Ill.; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darrell Lee Aper; sisters, Mary Lou Wibben and Johanna Butler; and sister-in-law, Patricia Aper.

Harold worked for Fuller Seed Company. He was a farming professional and he delivered the State Journal Register for 40 years.

Harold served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a member of the Emden American Legion Post #506 and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Harold was a huge supporter of his family's sporting events, attending many different sporting events for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Services for Harold will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, the Rev. Candida Turner conducting services. A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial will follow the service at Hartsburg Union Cemetery in Hartsburg with full military rites accorded by the Emden American Legion Post #506.

Memorials may be made to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight or Safe Haven Hospice.
