Mary Jane Ingram

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Mary Jane Ingram, 90, departed this life on April 15, 2014, in Springfield, at her daughter's home surrounded by loved ones. She was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Springfield.

She retired from Springfield School District#186 with over 20 years of service. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church where she participated in the Vera P. Shoultz Circle, Senior Citizen's Group, culinary and choir. Mary loved to cook, and baked pies were always requested by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ingram, Sr.; son, Jack Ingram, Jr.; parents, Mary Jane Hale and Walter J. Hale; five sisters, Bertha Mae Johnson, Molly Hale, Vern Hale, Marvina Johnson and Ethel Simmons; six brothers, David Hale, Otis Hale, Cleo Hale, Jessie Hale, Albert Hale and Walter Hale; and one son-in-law, Ernest Bankhead, Jr.

She leaves to cherish memories daughters, Marilyn J. Bankhead, Julie V. Jackson (Osborne, Jr.) of Springfield; brother, Lawrence (Helen) Hale, Sr., of Springfield; sisters, Margaret Trent and Louise Jones of Springfield; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Union Baptist Church, 1405 E. Monroe Street, Springfield, IL 62703. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Services will begin at noon. Officiant is Pastor T. Ray McJunkins.

Interment at Camp Butler National Cemetery Monday, April 21, 2014, at 10 a.m.

Walker Funeral Service has been entrusted with assisting the family in planning services.
