Laura Leigh Specketer
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Laura Leigh Specketer, 49, of Springfield, formerly of Havana, passed away at her home on Monday, April 14, 2014.
She was born Dec. 14, 1964, in Havana to Clyde and Janet (Becker) Specketer.
Laurie is survived by one stepson, Seth (Ashley) Pedigo of St. Louis, Mo.; two granddaughters; four brothers and sisters: Louis Briick of Joliet, Cindy Emmons of Springfield, Maribeth Specketer of St. Lake City, Utah, and Rob (Gail) Specketer of Havana. Also surviving are seven nieces and nephews: Elizabeth, Jonathan (wife, Erin), Sarah, Brian (wife, Mindy), Kevin (wife, Jennifer), Allison and Robby.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Laurie was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Havana. She had worked for the Illinois Secretary of State as a Supervisor in the Title Transfer Division for over 27 years. She was an avid Chicago Cubs, Bears, Fighting Illini and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held on May 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. A Celebration of Life will be held at Havana VFW Post #6408 in Havana starting at Noon, following the graveside rites. The Rev. Rex Beard will officiate.
