Minnie Louise Mirts
AUBURN, IL - Minnie Louise Mirts died on April 28, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill. Minnie was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Fulton, Mo., to William Knott Dudley and Rosa Ora Berry. She married Paul Mirts on Jan. 10, 1948, and they enjoyed over 50 years together before his death in 2001.
Minnie's time was most happily spent working with her hands. She loved to garden and could persuade even the most stubborn flowers to grow and bloom. She often looked out her window at her flowers to watch the birds and butterflies visit. Cardinals were her favorite bird and she had many red birds that would frequent her yard. Minnie also loved to sew and quilt. She made many things for her family and friends over the many years, and she was cross-stitching up until the very end.
Minnie enjoyed spending time with her family whether it was winning a game of pinochle or enjoying a meal at the MCL cafeteria. She was brilliant and could just as soon fly through a crossword as have an intelligent conversation on any topic. She was, in a word, "worldly before it was cool."
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Sue Suchomski (husband, Jerry) and Janet Louise Hohl; and two grandchildren, Daniel Paul Hohl and Lauren Louise Suchomski. XOXO Mama.
Memorial services were privately held at Roselawn Memorial Park on Thursday, May 1. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sugar Creek United Methodist Church.
Bramley Funeral Home in Auburn was in charge of arrangements.
