M. Barbara Robson

SPRINGFIELD, IL - M. Barbara Robson, 81, of Springfield, died at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

She was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Springfield to Andrew and Rose Blust Vollmer. She married Ronald Robson on May 25, 1957, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1985.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Andrew Vollmer.

Surviving are a daughter, Rosemarie (Nabiel) Al-Ghanma of Humble Texas; three grandchildren: Noelle, Hana and Hamza Al-Ghanma; one niece; three nephews; and several great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barb was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church. She worked as a secretary for St. Patrick's School, Marine Bank and the Sangamon County Circuit Clerk's Office. She was a member of St. Pat's Parish Club, YWCA Victory Club, and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra for 25 years. She was a former member and director of the German-American Singing Society and was a charter member of Sweet Adelines.

Visitation: 9-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass: 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Sacred Heart Church, the Rev. Paul Habing officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to: St. Patrick's School.
