Thelma J. McKnight
LINCOLN, IL - Thelma J. McKnight, 83, of Mt. Pulaski, formerly of Lincoln, passed away at 11:10 p.m. on May 14, 2014, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mt. Pulaski.
Thelma was born July 24, 1930, in Springfield, Ill., daughter of Lloyd C and Margaret Bryson Day. She married Melvin R. McKnight on June 14, 1953, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1996.
Thelma is survived by two brothers, Edward Day of Denver, Colo., and Keith Day of Dallas, N.C.; one niece, Jean (Jeff) Martin of Mt. Pulaski; one nephew, Lloyd Day of Lincoln; as well as several other nieces and nephews; great-nephews, Doug (Erin) Martin and Derek (Renee) Martin both of Mt Pulaski; and special friends: Mark, Diane, Bryce, Brent and Katie Hunsley of Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mildred Wiebking; and one brother, Robert Day.
Thelma loved to go camping, boating, and traveling. She also volunteered at the Logan County Genealogical Society.
Services for Thelma will be 2 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with Mark Weber officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m., one hour prior to service. Burial at New Union Cemetery will follow the service.
Memorials may be given to the Logan County Genealogical Society or Vonderlieth Living Center Foundation.
