DECATUR, IL - Helen Crandall, 84, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Heritage Manor in Mt. Zion.
Helen was born Dec. 8, 1929, in Royal Oak, Mich., the daughter of Emmett and Norma Cox. She married Lloyd Garland Crandall on Jan. 11, 2003.
Helen was a 1947 graduate of El Dorado Township High School. She was employed by St. John's for 20 years as an Occupational Therapy Aide. Helen was an entertainer extraordinaire, who enjoyed making crafts, attending craft shows, and dancing. She and her two best friends were known as the "Farkel Family Sisters."
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lou Jean Weaver and Dorlene Riggs; and a son, Patrick Stevens.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd G. Crandall of Decatur; three sons, Michael Hugh (wife, Jill) Stevens of Largo, Fla., Scott Matthew (wife, Donna) Stevens of Springfield, and Brad Lee (wife, Lynn) Stevens of Largo, Fla.; a daughter, Jeanne Lynn (husband, Mike) Wallace of Springfield; two step-children, Debbie Lynn (husband, Dan) Eddington of Shorewood, Ill., and Donald Myril (wife, Katie) Leach of Lusby, Maine; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Gail Allen officiating.
