Helene BUTCHER Obituary

Helene W. Butcher

ROCHESTER - Helene W. Butcher, 90, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born on April 17, 1924, in Farmingdale, Ill., the daughter of William and Sylvia Boggs Cain. Helene married Derrell Butcher on Dec. 23, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo., and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1999.

She was a member of the Rochester Christian Church since 1953, serving as organist and Sunday school teacher for many years, and helping out with numerous activities. Helene was also a member of Royal Neighbors of America since 1943. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Preceded in death by her father, William Cain, Mother, Sylvia and stepfather, Fred Morman, husband, Derrell Butcher and sister, Thelma Bregenhorn. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Brenda) Butcher of Rochester, and Dwight (Sharon) Butcher of Rochester; grandchildren, Ben (Marsha) Butcher of Springfield, Jonathan Butcher of Lincoln, Matt (Marissa) Butcher of Chatham, Bonnie Butcher of Rochester, Martin (Colleen) Butcher of South Carolina, Daniel and Kimberly Butcher, both of Florida, and Aubrey Davidson; and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Isla, Knox, Emilee, Rhett, Melody, Kelton, and Sam Butcher, Reed Murphy, Cameron Morgason, and Angel and Nik Davidson; two sisters, Betty (Don) Mohler of Rochester and Carol Dean of Edinburg; and one brother, Evan (Marjorie) Morman of Edinburg; several nieces and nephews including Debbie Maras of Rochester.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 23, from 4-7 p.m. at Rochester Christian Church. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 24, at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rochester Christian Church, 325 S. Walnut Street, Rochester, IL. 62563.
