John W. "Jack" Nattermann
SPRINGFIELD, IL - John W. "Jack" Nattermann, 93, of Springfield, died at 4:58 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Concordia Village.
Jack was born April 3, 1921, in Springfield, the son of William J. and Marie J. Stein Nattermann. He married Patricia Dagon on Nov. 17, 1945, in Springfield.
Jack graduated from Cathedral Boys High School and attended Springfield Junior College. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII stationed in the Pacific. He was employed with Allis Chalmers from 1940-1968, Vickers Division Sperry Rand Corp in Omaha, NE from 1968-1975, and the State of Illinois Central Management Services from 1975-1986, from where he retired.
Jack was a Big Band enthusiast and played trumpet in the Charlie Rodgers Band in the early 40's. He and his wife Pat attended many dances throughout the state over the years.
One of his favorite trips was to Washington DC with the Sangamon County Honor Flight.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and a volunteer Samaritan at St. John's Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lenore Aschauer.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Nattermann of Springfield; two sons, John (wife, Susan) Nattermann and William (wife, Peggy) Nattermann, both of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Karen Hudson of Lantana, Texas and Nancy (husband, Richard) Brophy of Elm Grove, Wis.; eight grandchildren: Kristen Broberg, Ryan Hudson, Brian and Michael Brophy, Jeff Nattermann, Rebecca "Becky" Nunnenkamp, Katie Lamond, and Megan Juett; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, William "Bo" Nattermann of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Helen Doyle of Glenview, Ill.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014, at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and Dept. of Defense.
