SPRINGFIELD, IL - Carl William Arnold, 77, of Springfield, died at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at St. John's Hospital.
Carl was born Dec. 29, 1936, in Springfield, the son of Elmer E. and Frances M. Moore Arnold. He married Marlene A. Pearson in 1958 and they later divorced. He later met and married Colene Jo Mihelsic in 1967; she preceded him in death on Nov. 18, 1984.
Carl graduated from Cathedral High School High School in 1955 and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1958 obtaining the rank of Corporal. He later earned his Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of Illinois in Springfield. He was employed for 35 years for CIPS, until his retirement in 1995, as a Management Systems Coordinator.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald E. Arnold.
He is survived by his children, Cynthia (husband, Mike) Matulis of Pawnee, Stephanie (husband, Paul) Klimek of Manhattan, Kan., and Christian Arnold of Springfield, Ill.; three grandchildren, Alyssa Klimek, Chelsey Matulis, and Brittany Matulis; one great-grandchild, Austin; two sisters, Sharon (husband, Robert) Young of Peoria and Lois Nelson of Chicago; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Celebration of Life will follow at The Sangamo Surf Club, 405 E. Lake Shore Dr., Springfield, IL.
