SHERMAN, IL -Marguerite Hager, 91, of Sherman and formerly of Tallula, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.
Marguerite was born Nov. 26, 1922, in rural Ashland, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna (Hillis) Hillen. Marguerite married Bill Hager on March 16, 1946. They shared 68 years together until he preceded her in death in March 2014.
Marguerite worked for many years as a secretary at the Tallula Grade School. She was a member of Tallula Christian Church and had recently been attending Sherman United Methodist Church. Marguerite was a member of the Tallula American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, canning fruit and vegetables, camping and fishing.
Surviving Marguerite are her children, Gary (Marlene) Hager of Springfield and Rita (Ren) Moore of Sherman; grandchildren: Nikki (Jason) Burgar of Springfield, Jared (Evita) Moore of Peoria and Darren Moore of Sherman; great-grandchildren: Luke and Skylar Burgar of Springfield, and Savannah, Connor, and Aidan Moore of Peoria; sister, Wanda June Hollis of Greenview; brother, Henry (Vickie) Hillen Jr. of Rochester; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Also preceding her in death was a sister, Henrietta Dickson.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Sherman United Methodist Church, 2336 E Andrew Rd. Sherman, IL 62684, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The Rev. Craig Sweet will officiate the service.
