William "Bill" J. Wilkin

SPRINGFIELD, IL - William "Bill" J. Wilkin, 75, passed away at 6:36 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.

William was born March 6, 1939, in Springfield, the son of Jay and Anna Wilkin. He married Jaqueline K. Houston on Jan. 9, 1960, in Springfield.

William was a graduate of Cathedral Boys High School, and attended Western Illinois University. He was a self-employed landscaper, and retired from the Secretary of State where he worked in grounds maintenance. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time at his cabin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Bob Wilkin and Jack Wilkin.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Wilkin; children, Patrick "Pat" J. (wife, Debbie) Wilkin of Girard, Daniel "Danny" P. (companion, Tee Parrish) Wilkin of Springfield and Tracy L. (husband, Ted) Galassi of Chatham; three grandchildren, Jesse (wife, Jessica) Wilkin of New Berlin, Jamie (husband, Adam) Baer of Farmersville, Shay Hauck of Denver, Colo.; two great-grandsons, Hunter and Mason Wilkin; two brothers, Jim (wife, Georgian) Wilkin of Springfield and Jerry (wife, Charlene) Wilkin of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Ceremony: 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz officiating.
