PETERSBURG, IL - After a six year courageous battle with cancer, Mindi Marie Niemeier passed away quietly at home surrounded by family on Thursday, July 17, 2014.
Mindi was born March 21, 1975, in Springfield, the daughter of Albert "Albie" and Maureen (Rebbe) Hughes of Oakford. Mindi grew up in Oakford, graduated from PORTA High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. She worked for Kent's IGA in Petersburg and later as a teller at the National Bank of Petersburg.
Mindi married Douglas Niemeier on July 13, 2007.
Surviving are her husband; daughters, Tiera and Taylor Berkshire; son, Wayne Niemeier; brother, Dennis (Paulette) Hughes; niece and nephew, Alexis and Drew Hughes; aunt, Jackie (Gene) Horn; and uncles, John Rebbe and Jim (Linda) Hughes of Oklahoma.
Mindi was an active participant in the Relay for Life for many years. She was an avid fan and supporter of her children's activities and sporting events. She enjoyed cooking and scrapbooking. She will be remembered for her strength, courage and faith In God. Mindi was a member of the Petersburg Church of Christ.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg with the Rev. James McMillion officiating. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Tallula, Ill.
