James Edward Alewelt

SPRINGFIELD, IL - James Edward Alewelt, 80, of Springfield, died at 6:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born July 23, 1934, in Springfield, to Carl and Goldie Atterberry Alewelt.

His parents, two brothers, Joe and Bernie, and one sister, Mary Lou Sabo, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Noreeda of Springfield; one daughter, Lori Lynn (Rick) Morris of Springfield; one son, Lee James Alewelt of Springfield; two grandchildren, Cody and Derrick Morris; one sister, Margery (Steve) Walton of Moberly, Mo.; one brother, Robert Alewelt of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He worked for City, Water, Light & Power as a water locater. James was a member of St. Aloysius Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Route 66 Cruisers and Road Runners.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home with Deacon Ben Hoefler and Harold Monroe officiating. Burial will be follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
