Roberta Joan Hardy

SPRINGFIELD, IL - Roberta Joan Hardy, 80, died at 10:50 am, Sunday, July 27, 2014 at her home in Springfield.

She was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Springfield, to Joseph A. and Clara E. Dahlkamp Hardy.

She is survived by her brother, William Hardy of Troy, Ill.; nieces and nephews: Alex (Connie) Hardy of Springfield, Larry Hardy of New Berlin, Susan (Edward) DeWitt of Atlanta, Ga., Bill Hardy of Springfield, Cindy (Chuck) Pugh of Troy, Steve Hardy of Athens and Joseph R. Hardy of Springfield; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Alvin, Lawrence and Joseph Hardy; one sister, Elda Hardy; and two nieces, Judith Ann Hardy and Rosemarie Hardy-White.

Roberta worked for the State of Illinois as a Bureau Chief in the Medical Division of the Dept. of Public Aid, retiring in 1996.

She was a very active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, serving on the Altar Guild and as a member of the Women's Group, and was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She enjoyed cooking, playing BINGO, gambling and painting. She was a former member of a bowling league.

Visitation: 4-7 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Staab Funeral Home.

Lie-in-State: 10-11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Busboom officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's Lutheran Church or to Concordia Village Activity Fund.
