Warren Eugene Brown

SPRINGFIELD - Warren Eugene Brown departed this life on August 10, 2014, at St. John's Hospice. He was born July 2, 1923, in Auxvasse, Mo., to Lonnie and Helen Brown. He married Martha Hawkins Dec. 9, 1956.

He was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for over 65 years.

He served in the U.S. Army, World War II. He was employed by the Pillsbury Company for 40 years. He was an avid bowler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Delroy and Lawrence (L.C.), and one son, Warren, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Brown; five children, David (Betty) Brown of Bloomington, Ill., Odessa Woolery of Knoxville, Tenn., Delissa Whiteside of Springfield, Terry (Sandra) Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., and Elaine Johnson of Springfield; four sisters, Margaret Rudd of Chicago, Ill., Odell Burns, Lorraine Jackson and Shirley White, all of Peoria, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Friday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 908 South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Springfield, IL 62703. Visitation: 11 a.m.-12 p.m. and Service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. with Charles Ferguson, Pastor, officiating.

Interment at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Walker Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.
