Samuel Orville Ealey Sr.
BUFFALO HART, IL - Samuel Orville Ealey Sr., 84, of Buffalo Hart, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, Ill.
He was born June 14, 1930, in Mechanicsburg, the son of Orville "Doc" and Viola Ridgeway Ealey. He married Hazel Jo-Dell Griffin on April 8, 1950, in Springfield; she preceded him in death on June 1, 2011.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War from 1948-1952. Sam was the owner of Ealey Trenching and Farm Tilling from 1965-2013. He formed the band Kountry Kustom and played all around Central Illinois for over 20 years. He was a member of Cornland Christian Church in Cornland and a member of the V.F.W.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Cheryl Ann Ealey Rawls.
He is survived by two sons, Clyde Steven Ealey and Samuel O. (Jeanette) Ealey Jr.; one daughter, Robin Lea Ealey Casper; one brother, Thomas Robert (Helen) Easley Sr.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
