Dorothy G. Dean
MEQUON, WI-Dorothy G. Dean (nee Gochnauer) of Mequon WI, former longtime resident of Chatham passed away on Monday, September 27, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Beloved wife for 67 years of Louie Franklin Dean. Dear mother of Dennis (Nancy) Dean of Mequon and Gary Dean of Orlando FL. Proud grandmother of Elizabeth and Christopher Dean. Sister of Margie Wakefield of Castle Rock WA, Florence Smith of Dallas TX, Joyce (Cliff) LeMonds of Castle Rock WA and John Kenneth (Nancy) Gochnauer of Heppner OR. She was preceded in death by her brothers Tony William Gochnauer who died in service and Barney Franklin Gochnauer. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may greet the family on Friday, October 1 from 10:30 to the time of Memorial Services at 11 AM at BEAUTIFUL SAVIOR LUTHERAN CHURCH, 11313 North Riverland Road in Mequon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in honor of the celebration of Pastor Philip Hillenbrand's 25th anniversary of ordination.
Dorothy was born in Amarillo TX on September 24, 1922. She graduated from Amarillo High School and attended Amarillo College. She married Louie Franklin Dean on June 17, 1942 in Rockville MD. They lived in Alexandria VA and the District of Columbia area until her husband was transferred to Pittsburgh PA, on to Detroit MI, Springfield, Kankakee and back to Springfield.
During the course of her various residences, Mrs. Dean served as a Cub Scout leader, PTA officer, Women's hospital auxiliary volunteer, worked in the Kankakee School Administrative office, taught Sunday School at the First Presbyterian Church in Kankakee and served as Executive Secretary of the Selective Service Local Board 147 in Kankakee until it closed. She was a member of several organizations and bridge clubs including the Women's Bridge Club of former FBI Agents wives and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
