Charles K. Wilson

LINCOLN - Charles K. Wilson, 82, of Lincoln, a retired teacher, passed away on Dec. 3, 2010.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 11:00 am at 1st UMC of Lincoln. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7:00 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.

He married Joyce L. Hardesty on Sept. 6, 1954 in Peoria, IL and she survives in Lincoln, as well as, Children: Keith (Jane) Wilson of Charleston; Laura (Gary) Hacker of Bartonville; Ellen (Dan) Dowell of East Peoria; Tim (Lang) Wilson of Normal; Gretchen (Rob) Jones of Lincoln; Lesley (Scott) Cooper of Lincoln; and Grandchildren: Nathan (Laurie) Hacker; Ted (Sara) Hacker; Tori (Josh) Schacht; Sam Wilson; Elizabeth Wilson; Gabrielle Hacker; Nick Jones; Natalya Jones; Michaela Wilson. Three Great Grandchildren: Kelsi Hacker; Kaleb Hacker; and Makinley Schacht. He was preceded in death by one grandson: Clint Dowell.

Charles was a United Methodist Lay Leader; summer camp grandparent; Boy Scout leader of Troops 109 and 102. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, the highest award for a troop leader; member of the Lincoln Lions Club; Volunteered at Little Lambs Day Care; Participated in the Walk to Emmaus and was a volunteer missions worker through the church. He was a 1946 graduate of Lexington high School and a 1954 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University.
