SPRINGFIELD - Shirley Ann (Race) Blackburn, 90 of Springfield passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Lewis Memorial Christian Village after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 13, 1921 in Springfield to the late George and Selena Carver Race. Shirley graduated from Lanphier High School in 1939. On September 24, 1943 she was united in marriage to Homer D. Blackburn who preceded her in death in 1986.

Shirley began a long career in retail working at Myers Brothers then Bergner's. She was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church and volunteered at Kumler United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Survived by her four children: Dennis Corvin-Blackburn (wife, Judith), Jeff Blackburn (wife Barbara), Laura Hunt (Husband, Bill) and Andrea Joy Stefanov (husband, Jim), eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Two brothers Bill Race and Dick Race preceded her in death.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 10:00 a.m.

until funeral services at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Clear Lake. Memorials may be made to the or the Kumler United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
