John Joseph Kenworth
ROCHESTER - John Joseph Kenworth, 86 of Rochester passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born on September 22, 1925 in New York, New York the son of John J. and Mary Agnes Patterson Kenworth. He married Marian Byrnes in 1954 and she preceded him in death in 1985. He married Maude Thompson on October 14, 1989 in Rochester and she preceded him on February 25, 2012.
John served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. He was a member of Church of St. Jude in Rochester, Knights of Columbus Council #9640, Rochester Lions Club, and the D.A.V. Hail Hagler #15. He worked for the State of Illinois, Secretary of State retiring on January 1, 1991. He attended New York University and Sangamon State University.
He is survived by his children Beth Gregory (Bill), Jackson Kenworth (Mary), Greg Kenworth (Tanya), Laura Wildermuth (Randy); step-children, Mark Thompson (Kathy), Gail Benton (Joel); grandchildren, Richard, Ashley, Sarah, Byrnes, Tyler O'Neill (Laura), Amy, Kelly Reyes (Christopher), Tara, Seth, Nicholas, Cassie Holmes (Hoke); great grandchildren, Liah, Norah, Kelton, and Karlee.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 1st from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Church of St. Jude, Thursday, August 2, with Reverend R. Dean Probst officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery with the Sangamon County InterVeterans Burial Detail providing honors.
