Ralph E. Olguin

GIRARD – Ralph E. Olguin, 70 of Girard, IL formerly of Sesser, IL passed away Wednesday October 17, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

Ralph was born April 22, 1942 a son of Frank and Alice (Weir) Olguin. Ralph married Rosalie Spann and later married Patricia (Maguire) Bounds Jan. 4, 1989 in Green River, WY. Ralph was a U.S. Army veterans serving in Vietnam. He worked 44 years as a coal miner starting at Old Ben # 2 in Sesser, IL and then he worked at Freeman United Coal Mine in Farmersville, IL and ended mining at The Oak Grove Mine in Heweytown, AL. While in Sesser, IL Ralph worked as a policeman for 14 years and as a volunteer fireman. Ralph was currently serving as Ward 2 Alderman in Girard, IL, Vice President for the Girard Chamber of Commerce, and Secretary for Prairieland Ambulance Board of Directors and President of the Girard Community Center.

Surviving Ralph is his wife, Patricia Olguin of Girard, IL, daughters, Melody (companion, Bobbie Ruffing) Olguin of Murphysboro, IL, Anita (Gary) Wilson of Ramsey, IL and Sherri White of Virden, IL. Sons, Frank Olguin of Green River, WY, and Robert Olguin of Sesser, IL, 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, step-sons, Daniel (Colleen) Bounds of Cary, IL and David Bounds of Virden, IL. Sisters, Janae Holmes of Carson City, NV, Maritta (George) Frost of Lockeford, CA and Erin Crabson of Stagecoach, NV, a brother, Harold Larrigan of Palmer, AK and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday October 19, 2012 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Girard, IL with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 20, 2012 at the funeral home with Rev. Norlyn Crandall officiating. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery, Virden, IL. Memorials may be made to the Girard Community Center or to Prairieland Ambulance, Virden, IL.
