Frank Van Fossan

SPRINGFIELD - Howard F. "Frank" Van Fossan, 63, a lifelong resident of Springfield, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center.

He was born in Springfield, August 20, 1949 the son of Milton E. and N. Catherine Kunz Van Fossan. His father preceded him in death. He married Kay Skibitzki in Springfield, July 2, 1977 and she survives.

He is also survived by his daughter, Michelle (Rodney) Roy of Sugarland, TX, two granddaughters; Lauren and Megan Roy also of Sugarland, TX, his mother and step father, Catherine and Elmer Requarth of Springfield, 3 God Children; Kimberly, Colton and Elijah Scott, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frank was the owner/operator of Air Cool Technical Engineering for 30 years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church ELCA in Springfield and was a past member of both the Pawnee Lodge 675 AF&AM and the Pawnee Chapter 436 OES (Order of the Eastern Star).

Frank served in the United States Army from April 23, 1969 – April 13, 1971 achieving the rank of SP4. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and M14 Sharpshooter Certification.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be from 4-7 pm Thursday Nov. 8, 2012. Additional visitation will be from 11:30 am until time of funeral services at 12:30 pm Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church ELCA 2477 W. Washington Springfield, IL with Pastor's Greg Busboom and Ladd Sonneberg officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will provide military honors.
