Frank H. Cooke
SPRINGFIELD - Frank H. Cooke, 88, of Springfield, IL, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012. He was born May 31, 1924 in Bryn Mawr, PA to Frank & Myrl (Snyder) Cooke of Llanerch, PA.
He served for the United State Army Air Force in World War II and the United States Air Force Reserve after the war. Frank was a graduate of The Hill School and Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA.
His career spanned fifty years in the property-casualty insurance industry. Frank received his CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) designation in 1959. During his 50 years in business he was employed by the Insurance Company of North America, National Fire Insurance Company of Hartford, and Allstate Insurance Company.
Frank retired from Allstate in 1990 but continued actively in the industry as a consultant and Executive Director of the Insurance School of Chicago until 1999. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Insurance Society of Chicago from 1976 to 1999.
He was a member of the World Affairs Council of Central Illinois. His avocation was the study of world affairs.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Peg, of Springfield; a brother-in-law, Bill Engel, of Athens; a niece and several nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home, Athens, IL. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Joel Hall Cemetery.
