CARLINVILLE - Arthur William Konneker, 78, of Carlinville, passed away Friday morning, November 16, 2012 at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville IL.
Art was born May 9, 1934 to William Otto and Opal (Leefers) Konneker in Shaws Point Township, Carlinville. He was a 1952 graduate of Carlinville High School and served in both the United States Air Force, as well as the Air National Guard after graduation. On August 18, 1956 Art married Jana Ruth Early at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2010.
Art was a grain and livestock farmer in the Carlinville area, retiring in 1986. He also worked for M&M service company for several years. Art was a member of the Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412, enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and spending time at Otter Lake. Art was strongly devoted to his wife, Jana Ruth and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Arthur is survived by 2 daughters, Kim Bruzek (Steve) of Wheaton, IL and Elizabeth Sandino (Steve) of Carlinville; son, Scott Konneker (Brenda) of Carlinville; 4 grandsons, Mathew Konneker, Andrew Sandino, Elliot Bruzek and Alexander Bruzek; 2 granddaughters, Ashley Wofford (Jack) and Alyse Sandino; 3 great-grandchildren, Christian and Kyra Konneker and Jocelyn Wofford; sister, Irene Tindle of Monticello, IL; 2 brothers, Don (Betty) Konneker of Carlinville and Pete (Rachel) Konneker of Clayton, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his wife, Jana; parents and an infant brother, Marvin Konneker.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Sabo officiating.
Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery, rural Carlinville with military rites performed by the Guy Baird American Legion Post #554.
