BARTOW, FL - Raymond John Shea, 81, of Bartow, Florida (previously Springfield, Illinois) died peacefully at home on 12/20/12 after a brief illness. He was born 6/29/31 in Springfield, Illinois to Frank and Lucy Jo Midden Shea. He attended Catholic elementary and high schools, then Benedictine University(known then as Springfield Junior College), Western Illinois University and University of Illinois. He married Mary Lou Doehring in 1958 and they have three children: Laura (Gary Lamsargis), Eric(Dyandra Grenier) and Darrel(Heather), as well as three grandchildren, a great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four older siblings: Eugene, James, Bernard and Dorothy.
He served in the U.S. Military during the Korean War. Most of his working life was as a college Math teacher. He was gifted in Math and enjoyed a good game of Cribbage. He once won a Cribbage championship at the Florida Senior Olympics. After retirement, he and his "ever-lovin' wife" moved to Florida, where they enjoyed a passion for Paso Fino horses and antiques.
The family are planning a small private service.
