STOCKTON, CA- Thomas L. Anderson, 90, of Stockton, CA passed away of lung cancer on December 17, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 21, 1922 in Mattoon, Illinois to James and Martha Anderson. Tom served as a radio operator on the SS Mariscal Sucre and the SS Sinclair H C in the Merchant Marines during WWII including the Battle of Okinawa. Tom worked as a Field Engineer and Telecommunication Engineer at Central Illinois Public Service (CIPS) in Springfield, Illinois for 29 years. In 1980 he began work as a Telecommunications Engineer at Southern California Edison in Rosemead, California before retiring in 1986. He continued working at a consultant for several years before he completely retired in 1990. Tom was an amateur ham radio operator for over 70 years, was a member of the Sacramento electric car club and the Veterans of the Battle of Okinawa.
He is survived by Lucille, his wife of 67 years; his children Charles (Linda) Anderson, Kim (Ron) Thompson, Doug (Jessica) Anderson; his grandchildren Thomas F. (Tina) Anderson; Chris Anderson; Zachary Thompson; Hunter and Regan Anderson; his great grandchildren Eli and Noah Anderson and Maliah Thompson; his sister Betilou Roy of Mattoon, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal will be held on January 4, 2013 at Cherokee Memorial in Lodi, CA.
