Jean passed away early in the morning of the 15th of January 2013. She was born in Springfield Illinois on 09/30/1931 to Bert F. Mann and Margaret H. Mann. Mrs. Metcalf attended Riverton Elementary School she graduated from Lanphier High School in 1949.
Jean worked as a secretary for the State of Illinois at The Division of Narcotic Control and Board of Governors for State Colleges and Universities, and the Illinois Attorney General's Office. She also was employed by the Sangamon County Jail.
She married Kenneth R. Metcalf, Sr. on 09/28/1963 and moved to Mechanicsburg, Illinois. In July 1965 she gave birth to her only child, Kenneth R. Metcalf, Jr.
She was a devoted mother and wife, supporting the two Kenneth's in all their endeavors. She was very active in several organizations holding both board and Presidential positions in several of the following: Springfield Ski and Boat Club, National Society Daughters of The American Revolution- Springfield Chapter, 17th Century Colonial Dames-Kickapoo Chapter, ALPHA IOTA, Eastern Starr, and a member of 3rd Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Mann and Margaret Mann, brother- in- law, Ray Fulghum, Erma Lyon (mother- in- law), E. John Lyon (father- in- law).
She is survived by her husband Kenneth R. Metcalf, Sr. of Mechanicsburg , a son, Kenneth R. Metcalf, Jr. (wife Carla) of Mechanicsburg . Twin sister, Jane Fulghum of Glenwood; grandsons, Nate Metcalf of Auburn, Carson Thomas of Mechanicsburg , Asa J. Thomas of Ramsey and her granddaughter, Kayla Metcalf of Auburn. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 17th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Martha Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Clearlake Twp.
