Dorothy J. "Dot" Hill
ROCHESTER - Dorothy J. "Dot" Hill, 62, of Rochester passed away on February 21, 2013, at her home. She was born October 23, 1950, in Danville, the daughter of Cloyd "Bus" and Doris (Rush) Mowery.
She leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Dwain; daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Hill of Maryville. She is also survived by her loving mother, Doris Mowery, and sister, Sue Goodyear (Gary), both of Danville; and six nieces and nephews.
Her father "Bus" Mowery, preceded her in death.
Dot graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign as one of the first recipients of an early childhood education degree in 1972. She taught in Warrensburg, MO, Peotone, IL, and retired from Carl Sandburg Elementary School in Springfield in 2010.
She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling, indulging in the local cuisine and spending quality time with her family. She was deeply loved and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
VISITATION: A celebration of life will be at the Rochester United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Memorial service at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Reverend Jack Swank and Reverend Cathy Sweet officiating. There will be no graveside services as cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, possibly plant one this spring or make a contribution to the Carl Sandburg Elementary School, Memorial Home Health Care, Rochester United Methodist Church, or the Ronald McDonald House.
