SPRINGFIELD- Barbra M. Steward, of Springfield, died at 1:50 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at St. John's Hospital.
Barbra was born October 27 in Houston, TX, the daughter of Robert and Agnes Giblin McGinley. She married Clark Steward and he preceded her in death.
Barbra grew up in Springfield and earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois. Barbra worked for Mayor Nelson Howarth and the American Cancer Society before beginning her real estate career with J. Russell Duff. She later worked for John B. Clark, Realtor, and joined Re/Max Professionals in 1989, where she worked until her death. Barbra was a first and long-standing board member of the Hope School, now known as Hope Institute for Children and Families.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Elizabeth "Sugar" Pfeifer, and second husband, Robert Ingerson
She is survived by one son, Peter (wife, Patty) Steward of Springfield; one daughter, Kim (deceased husband, Peter) Steward-Koerner; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, John and Mary Steward, and Corky and Kai Koerner; one brother, Robert "Red" (deceased wife, Shirley) McGinley of Scottsdale, AZ; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:30-11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Rev. Jeff Grant celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
