Charles Wayne Laster
MEMPHIS-Charles Wayne Laster was born March 22, 1954 to Charles Ward Simon and Alice Laster of Carbondale, Illinois. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged. He professed his faith in Christ at Cummings Street Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful member of the male chorus. In his later years, he became a devoted member of Community of Believers Baptist Church where he served faithfully as Chairman of the Deacon Board and taught the Seasoned Saints Sunday School Class. He was employed with Hyatt Regency and Central Defense Security. The Lord called him home on April 14, 2013.
Charles is survived by: his wife of seventeen years, Cathy; two sons, Marcus Laster (Sandra) of Springfield, Illinois, and Antoine Crisp of Memphis, Tennesse; two daughters, Cynthia Brown (William) and Chundra Dotson (Gregory), both of Memphis, Tennessee; his father, Charles Ward Simon of Carbondale, Illinois; his sister, Gloriastene Chappell (James) of Springfield, Illinois; mother-in-law, Georgia Voss of Memphis, Tennesse; nine loving grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a host of aunts, uncles, extended family. Charles was a loving father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend to all.
Charles was preceded in death by his mothers, Alice Laster and Cora B. Griffin, and his brother, Charles Benard Moore, Jr. Grandparents Obbie & Eva Laster, and uncle Oscar B. Laster.
