Scott Elden Haller

Scott Elden Haller, 51, of Chatham, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at St. Johns Hospital. Scott was born on July 26, 1961 in Huron, SD, the son of Elden and Karen Steinacker Haller. He married Kimberly Davis on September 29, 1990.

Scott is survived by his wife Kimberly, of Chatham; his parents, Elden and Karen Haller of Petersburg; two brothers, Mark (Susan) Haller of Springfield and David (Lisa) Haller of Mequon, WI; a sister, Ellen (Brad) Beggs of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Luke and Lydia Beggs, and Chad, Nicholas and Samantha Haller. He also leaves behind his two beloved cats, Mulligan and Chauncey.

Scott was a very compassionate and fun loving person and a lover of animals. His love of animals carried over into his job as a rural mail carrier. He carried dog biscuits with him for his canine friends along his route. Scott also loved sports. He enjoyed playing golf and participated in football, basketball, wrestling and track at PORTA High School. He also played football while attending Illinois College. Scott was an avid fan of University of Michigan football and basketball and also a fan of both the Detroit Lions and Tigers.

Funeral services for Scott will be held on Friday, April 26, at 11:00 am at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Visitation will be held one hour prior. His family requests that those attending wear casual, comfortable attire. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested for the Animal Protective League of Springfield, IL.
