Edward Herman Hofferkamp

ROCHESTER - Edward Herman Hofferkamp, 66, of Rochester, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at his home.

Ed was born on January 2, 1947, in Springfield the son of Herman Edward and Wilma Roesch Hofferkamp.

Mr. Hofferkamp was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. During his time in the Army he graduated from the Armed Forces Sentry Dog Handler School, Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from SIU-Carbondale and Master's Degree in History from Sangamon State University. He was also a graduate of the Lincoln Land Community College Welding Program and The Realtors Institute.

He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason, a member of Rochester Lodge #635 and a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of Capitol Area Association of Realtors, Illinois Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors, American Society of Appraisers, National Association of Review Appraisers and International Right of Way Association. Ed was a member of The American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, ABATE, American Gunsmithing Association, 50 Caliber Shooters Association, Illinois State Rifle Association, Lefthanders Gun Club, National Rifle Association, Taylorville Rifle and Pistol Club, and Winner Brothers Memorial Gun Club. He was a member of the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association, Motorcycle Riders Foundation and United Sidecar Association. He was also a member of the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America, Sangamo Club, Farm Bureau, Eagles Club, Ducks Unlimited, American Welding Society, Ansar Shrine and Anchor Boat Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Edwardo.

He is survived by his daughters: Anne Hofferkamp of Springfield, Carrie (Jimmy) Ragsdale of Tempe, AZ and Ellie Guardiola of Phoenix, AZ; companion, Marilyn Carpenter of Rochester; two sisters, Blye McSweeney of GA and Sally (Daniel) Petrone of Springfield; four grandchildren: James Jude and Marley Ragsdale of Tempe, AZ, Madelyn "Maddie" Siegel of Phoenix, AZ, and Brittney (Brandon) Harlan of Athens; two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct honors.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Illinois Rifle Association, Rochester Masonic Lodge #635 AF&AM or St. Patrick Catholic School.
