Pauline Frances Tolan

PETERSBURG, IL - Pauline Frances Tolan, 92, died at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home.

Pauline was born July 13, 1920, in Farmingdale, Ill., the daughter of Paul F. and Ruth Bradenburg Tolan.

Pauline graduated from Ursuline Academy and Springfield College. Her work career started as an elementary school teacher in Sangamon County for nearly 11½ years. She then held various positions with Green Construction Co. in Indiana for 25 years. Pauline moved to Jacksonville, Ill., as the owner and operator of Tolan True Value Hardware.

She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Lincoln Land Retired Teachers Association. Pauline previously belonged to C.D.A. Toastmistress Club, the Pilot Club of Jacksonville, the Brinkerhoff Association, and served as a volunteer at Memorial Medical Center Gift shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Jack, Max, Enos and Hugh "Si" Tolan.

She is survived by her sister, Gloria Tolan Mullady of Springfield; three sisters-in-law: Mary, Margie and Eleanor Tolan; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a few cousins.

Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering & Memorial Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 S. Walnut St., Springfield, IL with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Martin De Porres Center, 1725 S. Grand Ave. East, Springfield, IL 62703.
