Rick Duane Anderson
SPRINGFIELD - Rick Duane Anderson, 63, of Springfield, died at 6:45 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. He was born November 25, 1949, in Rushville, to Duane Robert and Carlene Utter Anderson. He married Yvonne V. Evans on June 7, 1991, and she survives.
Also surviving are six children, Angel (Thad) Lael of Chatham, Eric Anderson of Mt. Sterling, Corey (Amber) Anderson of Versailles, Stephanie Treadway of Beardstown, Eric Moranville, Jr., of Springfield, and J.J. Anderson of Franklin; nine grandchildren, Trent, Tennessee, Zac, Carter, Christian, Lena, Carter, Cora and Kaydence; and one aunt, Rose Spears, of Beardstown.
His mother, Carlene and step-father, Dick Shoopman, preceded him in death.
Rick was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during Vietnam. He was an avid Cubs fan, but also enjoyed many other sports and liked going to the boat. One of Rick's greatest joys was spending time with his grandkids. He loved Casey's doughnuts.
He retired from the State of Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, where he worked in the mail room. After retirement, he worked part-time at Wal-Mart.
Visitation: 9–11 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Bruce Swartz officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors.
